About Dr. Ira D. Koeppel, D.D.S.

With over 12 years in the field of sleep apnea, Dr. Koeppel has become a sleep advocate and resource for those in the area who suffer with this disorder. He is an active member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Throughout his 30 year career Dr. Koeppel is the Clinical Director of his facility which is a Accredited Facility by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Dental Sleep Medicine. (AADSM). Dr. Koeppel has also lectured on dental sleep medicine at the Stonybrook Dental School, educating students about the role of the dentist. The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine is the sister organization and partners with the physician organization, The American Academy of Sleep Medicine. We are one of three facilities in NYS that are accredited through the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Koeppel has been trained extensively by craniofacial specialists and the LVI neuromuscular dentistry program in neuromuscular and TMJ/TMD therapy, in addition to sleep medicine. This makes him very knowledgeable about the muscles, joints and nerves of the head, neck and face and how they relate to each other. He has treated hundreds of patients who are CPAP intolerant, with oral appliances. Many of his patients have replaced their CPAP’s with successful oral appliances.. Dr. Koeppel also completed a residency program from the Institute for Advanced TMJ Studies that focused on obstructive sleep apnea, sleep hygiene, sleep disturbances and sleep bruxism. Dr. Koeppel believes continuing education is the key to achieving excellence, and is always staying on the cutting edge of technology and new research. Patient comfort is his number one concern in life, and he is always looking for new ways to accommodate his patients.

We look forward to meeting you!
